what to expect

a typicalsession.

colour realism takes longer at the table than most styles, since every layer of ink has to be built up with proper saturation to hold its brightness over the years. a detailed piece the size of a forearm typically runs a full day session; anything larger gets planned across multiple sittings, scheduled around whichever of raf or karolina suits the piece. consultation matters more here than most styles, since the choice between raf’s tight realism and karolina’s looser watercolour treatment genuinely changes what the finished piece looks like.

the detail

about colour realismat shade.

colour realism rewards experience more than any other style here, which is why it's in the hands of two artists with the years behind them. a palette that bright shows every decision. black and grey reads a soft transition as shading; colour shows every tone exactly as it is, so every tone has to be right, and that's the part our colour artists are known for. it's also why an enquiry for colour gets matched carefully to whichever artist genuinely suits it.

raf has fifteen years in it: marvel and comic book work, horror, portraits, animals, holding the same standard across every subject. karolina works looser and more painted, watercolour colour sitting around a tightly drawn subject rather than filling it in edge to edge. between the two of them they cover most of what people actually mean when they ask for colour, from tight photorealistic portraits to something closer to a painting than a photograph, and working out which suits your idea is most of what happens at consultation before a design is even started.

everything is drawn specifically for the piece and the person having it, never repeated from a previous client or pulled from a printed sheet. how a colour piece ages depends heavily on placement and on how it was built in the first place: colour that's layered properly, with full ink saturation from the start, holds its brightness for years, and that's how every colour piece here is built. once it's healed, sunscreen is the single best thing you can give it: colour responds to sun protection even more than black and grey does, and with it a piece stays vivid rather than drifting toward grey over the years. your artist will walk you through looking after it from day one, so you know exactly how to keep it bright.

it suits bold, high-impact pieces and anyone who wants a tattoo that reads as unmistakably colour rather than colour used as an accent. bring your reference images in the best resolution you can find, and come to consultation ready for an honest conversation about which artist suits what you want. karolina's loose watercolour treatment and raf's tight realism are different enough that the choice matters more here than it does for most other styles, and it's one we settle properly with you before anything is booked, so the session itself is all about the tattoo.
